Godwin Obi
PhD Student, MAE
Godwin is a Doctoral Candidate at Princeton’s ZERO Lab, where his research explores possible futures and innovative pathways to national-scale commercialization and deployment of emerging clean-firm technologies across North America, the Arabian Gulf, and emerging African markets.
His work focuses on advanced turbomachinery systems leveraging Supercritical CO₂ (sCO₂) and Oxyfuel Combustion—particularly those fueled by natural gas, nuclear energy, and industrial heat—which potentially constitute some of the world’s cleanest firm power, heat, and energy storage technologies, with superior economic prospects.
His research explores their future market potential and the role of international cooperation, energy and industrial policy, and technology and infrastructure innovation in fostering early niche markets for deployment and scale-up across developed and emerging markets, while accounting for experience-driven cost reductions. Ultimately, his work aims to generate insights to guide innovation, investment, research, policy, and planning decisions. Pursuant to his research, Godwin has worked with the World Bank, consulted for the Energy for Growth Hub — a spinoff of the Center for Global Development, and is a Science, Technology and Environmental Policy (STEP) Fellow with the School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.
Prior to Princeton, Godwin gained diverse experience across the energy (Egbin Power PLC), FMCG (Procter and Gamble), entrepreneurship (Rockefeller Foundation – Acumen Social Enterprise Accelerator), and logistics (Bisedge Limited) sectors.
